Sacramento is at it again, tweaking the energy code for California. We will take the 52 page lighting chapter of the new 2008 Residential Compliance Manual and turn it into layman’s language. Fluorescent, LEDs, low voltage, line voltage, dimmers, and occupancy sensors all play a part in creating a successful kitchen and bathroom design that meets code. Remember, don’t shoot me, I am only a messenger!
Nancy McCoy, principal of her own firm McCoy Lighting Design, is an independent lighting designer working on residential and commercial projects. Her lighting career was launched at a seminar when she heard the words “lighting can make or break your space.” In her thirty years experience, she has won design awards for her work and has been published in magazines including Fine Home Building, Inspired House, Sunset, Interiors, and Hospitality. She has taught lighting seminars nationally for the American Lighting Association, has spoken at national conferences for NKBA, NAHB, JLC, IES and ALA. Nancy is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and of The LiForum (TLF).
