Topic: High Design Meets High Sustainability  (0.1 CEU)
Speaker: Mike McDonald, Leed® Ap, Project Development Director, Ryan Associates
Location: Pacific Sales, 975 Bryant Street, San Francisco, CA 94013

Mike McDonald, Leed® Ap, award winning green builder, focused on how sustainable design can be beautiful, doesn’t have to cost more, and the value in assembling an experienced integrated design and construction team early in the process to assure a project’s success. He covered:

  • Simple and specific materials, methods, and resources that assist in achieving overall beautiful sustainable design.
  • Achieving maximum sustainability in a project is mostly the result of great design and not expensive systems, consultants or materials.
  • Sustainable design doesn’t have to look a certain way. Sustainable design can be beautiful, transparent and easily fit into the designers overall aesthetic intent.
  • The benefits of having access to an experienced estimating and scheduling team during the design phase of the project to assure the progress is meeting the owner’s goals including budget, schedule and sustainability deliverables.
